Every AI demo you have ever seen with finance looks the same.
Someone uploads a P&L.
AI writes a summary.
Everyone applauds.
The CFO goes back to Excel.
For three years now, this has been the whole show.
AI talking about your numbers. Never operating them.
Until this week.
We connected Claude to a real ERP demo through something called MCP. The model did not summarize the trial balance. It pulled it. It did not describe the COGS account. It drilled into it. It did not write a paragraph explaining what a journal entry should be. It posted one. And when we tried to post one that did not balance, the ERP rejected it.
For the first time, finance has plumbing for AI to actually do the work.
Read the ledger. Validate entries. Reject the ones that break the rules. Persist the ones that pass. Re-derive the trial balance when something changes.
This is an AI working inside the system of record with typed, governed tools and full audit visibility.
Let me show you what that looks like in practice.
Let’s dive in.
How Claude works inside your ERP
Born2Cycle’s ERP is called CoolERP. It has an MCP server built in, so Claude can connect to it directly. The connection link is in the paid section at the bottom if you want to try this yourself.
The CFO opens Claude and asks for the March trial balance.
Claude returns an interactive dashboard. Every account, every balance, every debit and credit. Click any row to drill into the detail.
The CFO can also ask follow-up questions about any account. Like COGS.
But MCP is not just about reading data. It can do real work too.
Like posting a journal entry.
That is the shift.
Claude is no longer reading a copy of your data. It is working inside the system that owns it. With the validation, the rules, and the audit trail already built in. No exports, uploads or any stale snapshots.
